The company posted a brief post on its blog last month however, this has now been updated bring light new information regarding the attack.

Originally the tech giants have reported 50 Million accounts being compromised, Facebook has now downgraded this to 30 Million and has stated that out of those 30 Million, 29 Million users have had their personal information breached. The company is trying to assure that the miscreants apparently didn’t manage to access any third-party app data from the top applications such as WhatsApp or Instagram however, this has not been proven.

Facebook vice president Guy Rosen told reporters that the FBI has stepped in and asked the company to withhold the descriptions of the attackers due to an ongoing inquiry into the major data breach.
